Low Level Flying Page

What is the purpose Low Level Flying:

Low flying remains an essential skill for military aircrew. UK forces have deployed repeatedly to potential trouble spots around the world usually with little or no warning, so Is an essential skill that provides aircrew with one of the best chances of survival if ever needed.

They are only able to do this through specialist training gained through the use of the UK Low Flying Area. All RAF pilots have to practice low level flying from a very early stage, starting with Grop G-105, Tucano, BAe Hawk and finely with RAF frontline aircraft like, Tornado, Harriers, Jaguars and Typhoon. Is a highly demanding skill which can only be maintained through continuous and realistic training.

Images from my visit to the low level area in Wales. Again some very interesting movements during my visits there with highlights being the Swedish Air Force SAAB 105's, USAF A-10's, USAF F-15's RAF special forces C-130K, RAF Tornado's GR.4's, RAF 6th Squadron Jaguar's and lots of well flown BAe hawks from RAF Valley.

All in all great action and well worth going out even the weather does not always play ball.

All Images in this gallery where taken since 2003 in the Welsh low level flying area, one of the most impressive places I have ever been and the best place to see RAF aircraft being put through their pace's, not surprising as to why RAF pilots regarded so highly amongst air forces around the world.
